Frozen Finds

Do you ever notice how many of the truly great things for kids have been designed by parents? That’s just what happens – parents will discover that they have an unfulfilled need, so if they have the brains and the gumption, they will just find the solution on their own. If we’re lucky, that product or service will be available to all of us and we’ll be to benefit from it as well. Amy’s Organics is no exception.

Amy’s was developed in 1987 by a California couple that loved to cook fresh, healthy food but didn’t always have the time (and interestingly enough, had a daughter named Amy). They started on a shoestring budget, using their own home as a headquarters. Their first frozen meal was a vegetable pot pie, and it was a huge hit. Today, Amy’s is distributed nationally and offers over 88 frozen meals in addition to sauces and soups. Their meals are still healthy, tasteful and often organic.

Now, they offer a number of healthy, yummy meals just for kids. An Amy’s Kids Meal has a main course, some veggies, a side or two and even a healthy dessert. It is so nice to know you can give your kid something truly delicious and healthy right out of your freezer, guilt free!

WOW! I did not know these existed. They did not have them at my Walmart or Kroger. But when I searched they did have them at the other Walmarts in my town. I am going tonight to get some to try. Much healther than other frozen meals for kids.

I’ve seen Amy’s products at my Kroger store but have never purchased. I will be more likely to check them out closer now!

You can also try Mom Made Foods (http://www.mommadefoods.com/), which are organic, frozen foods for babies and toddlers. Also created by a mom in the DC area. You can type in your zip to find the closest store that carries MMF.

My little man (15mo) is allergic to dairy so this kids ziti dairy free is awesome once in awhile. I brought one with my to Nan’s so she wouldn’t have to fuss over his usual fare of organics. Amy’s makes awesome stuff, I just wish my grocery store carried more of it.
