A burn can be really painful, to say the least. Our founder, Kristen, still has a scar on her leg from when her shin accidentally rubbed up against of the tail pipe of her dad’s motorcycle when she was seven. Sometimes they are just unavoidable. Most of us probably reach for a bag of ice and cold water. But, that is not the best solution for burn treatment (at all!) In fact, sometimes if you use too much ice for too long, you can get an ice burn as well, which compounds the pain and recovery time. You may have heard somewhere along the line that butter works, but that isn’t the best option either. When you get a minor burn, here are the top three treatments: Honey, apple cider vinegar and egg whites. Surprised? They are all natural burn remedies with a proven ability to take the pain away, accelerate healing and minimize scarring. In fact, Manuka Honey, a honey produced in New Zealand, has gained quite a following in the medical community for treating severe burns, skin conditions and wounds. It has amazing antibacterial properties and has amazing healing properties for more than just burns. We could write a novel on the properties of Manuka Honey, and we encourage you to learn more about it.
Learn how to use and apply each of the three treatments described.

April 7, 2009I had a terrible accident with hot oil last Friday and used Egg Whites. It soothed immediately and my hand doesnt even look bad at all. Some of my skin came off, but it appears that the new skin underneath has already healed. It is amazing what egg whites can do! I highly recommend it. Since I am a mega clumsy person, I will report back on the other two remedies, since I am sure I will burn myself within the next month! HA!
